Orange Italian Soda

Happy New Year’s Eve!  You could make this in any flavor you like, I just had oranges on hand so I used them.  If you decide to change it up, comment below with suggestions!

For the orange syrup:

  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1/2 cup fresh squeezed orange juice
  • 2 tablespoon orange zest
  • Food coloring (optional)

For the italian soda:

  • 1/2 cup sparkling water
  • 2-3 tablespoons orange syrup
  • 1 tablespoon half and half
  • ice

For the syrup:

  1. Place all ingredients in a small pot over medium heat.
  2. Once the syrup reaches a boil, take it off the heat.
  3. Cool to room temperature, and  strain out the orange zest.
  4. If you would like a brighter color, add food coloring.

For the italian soda:

  1. Fill a glass up about half way with ice.
  2. Pour in 2-3 tablespoons of the orange syrup.
  3. Top with sparkling water, stirring slightly.
  4. Slowly pour in 1 tablespoon of half and half.
