I went to Capri during a weekend Amalfi Coast trip with Bus2Alps.  During our trip we stayed in Sorrento and visited Capri, Positano and Pompeii.  It was an amazing weekend!  I went with my room mates Caroline, Melanie, and Victoria.  We all booked our trip separately, so I ended up staying in a hotel with girls I did not know.  Even though it was a hotel, it was not as nice as the hostel we stayed at in Munich.  Our first trip of the weekend was to Capri, Italy.  Unfortunately, Victoria couldn’t make it to the first day of the trip, so I spent the day with Melanie and Caroline.

We took a ferry from Sorrento to the island of Capri.  The first thing we did was see the Blue Grotto.  The Blue Grotto is a cave that glows a blue color caused by sunlight shining through the water.  To enter it, you have to use a tiny row boat.  The entrance is a small hole, so we had to lay down as flat as possible until we got inside.  I’m really glad I saw it, but it was definitely over-priced.  To enter by boat it costs 12.50 euros, and we were only inside for a couple of minutes.

After seeing the Blue Grotto, we took a boat tour around the whole island of Capri.  My favorite part about the tour was getting to ride our boat through the famous arch.

After our boat tour, we took a funicular up to Anacapri.  As soon as we arrived, we asked some women if they would take our picture.  We talked to them for a little while, and I found out that one of them was from my home town! Super cool!  There was a great granita stand that we stopped at to order lemon and orange granitas.  A granita is basically an Italian slushy.  To make them, the man took a lemon granita and squeezed two oranges over the top.  They were so fresh and delicious!  After our granitas, we went to a shop the makes custom sandals.  We did not buy any shoes, but it was fun to watch them work.  We stopped for lunch at a place called Columbus.  I got a diavola pizza.  It was nice to have something spicy because that is not very common here, and I love spicy food!

After lunch, we took a chairlift with beautiful views.  As we got closer to the top, we were inside of a cloud.  All we could see looking out was solid white.  It was neat, but we also wished we could have seen something other than just white!

After the chairlift in Anacapri, we walked back down to Capri.  It was about a 40 minute walk and we got to see some amazing views!  We made our way down to a beach and sat on the big rocks enjoying the sunshine.  It was beautiful!
