About Me

Graduation

My name is Rachel and I am now officially a college graduate, with a degree in Bakery Science!  I started my blog to share my love of cooking and baking with others.

During the summer of 2013, I got the amazing opportunity to intern for Ali of the popular cooking blog Gimme Some Oven.  She taught me so much about the tips and tricks of blogging and food photography.  There’s a lot more to it than I originally thought!  If you haven’t ever been to her blog before, be sure you check it out!  She’s a great cook and a wonderful person!

During the fall of 2013, I made the best decision of my life, and moved to Florence, Italy to study abroad for the semester.  I got to experience so many amazing things, and it’s so hard to put the experience into words.  I’m a huge advocate for studying abroad, and if you are considering it, please send me an email!  I’d love to help as many people as possible who have any questions about the process.

This following summer I was an intern for the Kansas City bread company, Farm to Market.  They are a wonderful small company that uses only natural ingredients and processes.  There are a few companies who really strive to connect and improve the sense of community in Kansas City, and Farm to Market is one of them.  I also was lucky enough to redesign their website, so visit it and let me know what you think!

My last year of college was unbelievably busy, but I was able to stay organized and accomplish a lot! I ended up taking 23 credit hours my last semester (hence the lack of blog posts!) and somehow landed a 4.0 that semester. I officially graduated Magna Cum Laude and am so proud of myself!

With my blog being primarily focused on my experience in college, I decided to move on and create a blog with my twin sister, Style & Spice. I’m keeping University Foodie up and running, but simply won’t have any new blog posts.

Thanks again for visiting my blog!

Rachel
